Spain Retirement Visa Overview (Non-Lucrative Visa or NLV)  For Non EU Citizens

Introduction

Often referred to as the Pensioner’s Visa, this designation reflects the visa's primary target audience—individuals of retirement age.   younger applicants often face rejection, making it crucial for applicants to be at or beyond retirement age.

This visa was specifically created to cater to retirees, so younger, working-age individuals should refrain from applying.

What is the Pensioner’s Visa?

The Pensioner’s Visa is a residence permit designed for senior non-European nationals who wish to reside in Spain. Importantly, this visa permits living in Spain but does not allow holders to engage in employment.

- Immediate Residency: Enables you to reside in Spain without being subject to the 90/180-day limit.
- Freedom of Movement:Facilitates visa-free travel across the Schengen Area, comprising 29 countries.
- Clarity in Regulations: Initially issued for one year, with the possibility of renewal every two years.
- Affordability: This visa is the most cost-effective option available, though it does require a longer processing time.
